My artistic practice is deeply rooted in the time I spent studying and working in St Ives, Cornwall. Having begun my education with formal portraiture at Heatherley’s School of Art, immersing myself in the distinct landscape and coastal light of St Ives prompted a major shift in my work toward abstraction and structured landscape composition. Rather than forcing a literal translation of the terrain, I use my studio practice to experiment with the tension between pure abstraction and organic form. My process relies heavily on mixed media and collage, incorporating sketches, past paintings, and fragments of coloured paper to rebuild the textures of the English countryside. By taking my sketchbook directly into the environment and translating those raw observations into abstract studio pieces, my goal is to capture the initial, unrefined emotional response to a place, leaving the viewer space to navigate the boundary between memory and geography.
